The view of the Capitol dome at the New Jersey Statehouse is different now.
The shiny golden dome is still as imposing as ever, but it is presently flanked by two huge All Terrain Cranes as exterior work progresses on Gov. Chris Christie’s $300M Statehouse renovation project.
Financing for the massive effort was approved last May.
Here’s a visual update of the work:
The front entrance on the West State Street side is fenced off while exterior work is done. A sign directs visitors to the Annex for entry.
A large piece of stone is removed via crane after it was cut free by workmen on Sept. 20, 2017.
Ornaments taken down from the front facade are arranged on the ground in front of the Statehouse.
Trees are trimmed in front of the Statehouse for easier access to the building.
