According to a report released by the Texas Department of Transportation, the contractor for the Interstate 30/S.H. 360 Interchange Project determined that operator error was the official cause of when a Lorain LRT 350 Rough Terrain Crane tipped over in Arlington, TX.

The crane operator was subsequently dismissed from the construction company.

“The contractor and TxDOT will continue to work to deliver this important project as safely as possible,” TxDOT spokesman Val Lopez III said.

The crane had been working near a hotel in the 2400 block of E. Lamar Boulevard near Ballpark Way when it fell forward, taking with it several power lines and cables. Traffic along Interstate 30 was backed up for more than an hour until the power lines could be cleared away safely.
