Luka Koper improves its container terminal by seven new E-RTG cranes. Three of the new E-RTG cranes already arrived in Slovenian port, while another four are expected in the next two months. Each of the 142-tonne electrification rubber tired gantry crane uses electricity, as a power source hence it is more environment-friendly, generating less noise and no direct emissions. Following the improvement in cargo handling facilities, the container terminal in Port of Koper has 22 RTG cranes. The new equipment will contribute to the productivity of the container terminal and will improve its efficiency.

The modernization is part from larger project of container terminal modernization and the increase of container handling capacities, including also the extension of Pier I and additional storage facilities. The Luka Koper operator anticipates to invest 235 million EUR in the container terminal until 2020, including container terminal seabed dredging at the quayside, as well as increase of handling, storage capacities and warehousing.

Luka Koper is a public limited company, which provides port and logistics services in the only Slovenian port. It is situated in the northern part of the Adriatic Sea, connecting mainly markets of Central and Southeast Europe with the Mediterranean Sea and Far East. Differently from other European ports, which are managed by port authorities, the activities of Port of Koper comprise the management of the free zone area, the management of the port area and the role of terminal operator.
