A strategic addition to BAM’s resources in Ireland, the acquisition means that BAM now owns a total of thirty cranes.

BAM has a long standing relationship with Wolffkran based on their ability to deliver top level service and integrate innovative technology to meet requirements.  The new cranes are equipped with the latest software, which monitors weather conditions and crane performance. In addition, this software can notify both the site manager and the supplier electronically in the event of high wind speeds.  Engineers from BAM Ireland recently traveled to Germany to be trained on the new technology.

Commenting on the acquisition, BAM Ireland Plant Manager Tommy Flaherty said: “This purchase meets a vital need for BAM.  We have seen a real upswing in our construction activity recently and resurgence in areas such as commercial office building activity. These cranes will be going to sites across the country immediately, as BAM moves ahead with works on the corner of Molesworth Street and Dawson Street for Green REIT, the Capital Cinema in Cork for JCD, and the Court Building in Waterford City, which is part of the Courts Public Private Partnership project.”

The tower cranes have a 70 metre reach and can operate at a height in excess of 125 metres, with the capacity to lift 3.2 tonnes at maximum reach. The cranes, which run on 100% green electricity are also representative of BAM’s commitment to sustainability, which has seen the company named on the “A List” of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Performance Leadership Index.

John O’Sullivan, Director, BAM Ireland noted: “It will not have escaped many people’s notice that cranes are beginning to appear on our skylines again.  To accommodate this increased activity, we continue to take steps to ensure that emissions are reduced and resources are correctly managed, and that’s reflected in our decision to invest in green energy cranes”

Duncan Salt, COO HTC Wolffkran UK and Ireland, was on hand to inspect the installation. He observed: “Wolffkran is delighted to conclude this sale.  We have had a great relationship with BAM Ireland going back over 20 years.  I am also extremely pleased to be once again doing business in Ireland.  The resurgence of the construction sector here is great news for the industry across Europe.”
