Crews with Selinsky Force Industrial Services and Central Allied Enterprises were moving a large piece of Allied’s equipment near the Harmont Avenue intersection.

A Lima dragline, a large excavating machine, was hauled about three-quarters of a mile, according to Mike Davis of Selinsky Force. The combined weight of the machine and moving truck topped 500,000 pounds, he said.

The road was closed for less than two hours and later reopened after a successful move that took less time than originally planned, Davis said.

Central Allied uses the dragline to mine sand and gravel. The equipment is needed to work another section of Central property closer to 55th Street but couldn’t make the direct trip due to nearby homes in the area, said Doug Woodhall, vice president of operations with Central Allied.

The cost of the move topped $50,000, he said.
