The incident at Taree, in northern New South Wales, left a man in his 40s with a broken leg despite causing severe damage to the ongoing construction.

The Zoomlion truck crane was reportedly being used in the building of a car park at Manning Rural Referral Hospital, Taree, when it collapsed and crashed into the building site.

Photos from the scene show the telescopic truck crane tilted upright, while the boom of the crane lies across the roof of the carpark.

Scaffolding and fencing used in the construction were visibly damaged in the collapse.

The injured man was attended to at the scene by paramedics and construction work was suspended.
