Worth $130 million, covering 56,000 sqm and housing 220,000 parts, the Caterpillar distribution center opened last week and is big enough to support industry all over the world.

CAT store dealer Hastings Deering spokesman Vincent Cosgrove said the center could supply anything from an O-ring to a 16-tonne engine 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“It’s built to support Hastings Deering businesses in Queensland, Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia and it even supports other dealerships around Australia and globally,” MrCosgrove said.

“It’s about getting parts quickly to our customers so we can service them on a 24-hour seven-days-a-week cycle.

“This (is) intricately linked to our business around Rockhampton. We link back into that CAT distribution centre in Yatala so we can supply directly to our 23 branches.”

Together with dealer Hastings Deering, CAT also revealed the latest in heavy construction technology – the CAT F Series Hydraulic Excavator and CAT M Series Wheel Loader.

Hastings Deering managing director Dean Mehmet said the company made the launch outside of any legislative requirements, to lead the way in both clean air emissions and fluid costs and also to provide technological offerings.
