Waste-management specialist enhances recycling efficiency with new J-1170AS jaw crusher
JEREMY Bishop Haulage (JBH) have taken delivery of a new Terex Finlay J-1170AS jaw crusher for use at their inert waste-recycling facility at Lee Mill, on the outskirts of Plymouth. Supplied by Finlay Plant SW, the high-powered crusher is carrying out on-site work previously undertaken by two machines and joins an equipment fleet that already includes a 595 model, as well as a four-way 684 and a 883 unit.
The new plant is producing the highest specification of recycled products, working alongside the existing Terex Finlay machines on site in a streamlined and highly efficient manner. The recycled materials are processed from concrete and brick rubble – brought in as construction and demolition waste from building sites.
This material is initially processed by the company’s existing Terex Finlay 883, which screens out to a –50mm, 50–75mm and +75mm products. Only the 50–75mm and +75mm material is taken to the new Terex Finlay J-1170AS. The new plant creates one Type 1 product, which is then processed through the Terex Finlay 684 on site; producing dust, 10mm, 20mm and 40mm chippings.
Gareth Johnson, managing director of Finlay Plant SW, worked with the team at JBH to introduce the new plant on site and to co-ordinate its workings with the other Terex Finlay machines. Essentially, Mr Johnson organized a demonstration of the J-1170AS prior to purchase to ensure the machine was correctly specified.
Fed by a swing shovel, the J-1170AS machine is doing the work previously carried out on site by a Terex Finlay J-1175 crusher and 595 screener. The new addition means the Terex Finlay 595 is freed up to carry out other work on site, while the J-1175 has been part-exchanged towards the newly acquired J-1170AS plant.
A recent addition to the Terex Finlay range, the J-1170AS jaw crusher provides the flexibility of a crushing and screening plant in one machine. One of its key features is a detachable on-board sizing screen, which provides high capacity with large reduction ratios. The jaw chamber configuration can be set up specifically for quarrying applications or processing construction demolition debris (via the hydraulic release chamber option).
The J-1170AS model also features a heavy-duty variable speed VGF and integrated prescreen, delivering high production throughput in quarrying, mining, demolition and recycling applications.
Mr Johnson commented: ‘The J-1170AS was launched in 2015 and has become a very popular item of equipment. It is highly productive, versatile and economical, and is really proving its worth on site for JBH. The new mobile plant is also working well with the other Terex Finlay equipment we’ve introduced to the site. JBH’s products are now sought after due to their high specification attained by the screening of the product prior to crushing.’
